ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
In our world where natural resources are rapidly depleting and the boundaries of pollution cannot be defined, it is a branch of engineering that works to establish and protect the balance between humans, the environment and technology and to ensure sustainable development.
Environmental Engineering has duties and responsibilities in all areas from the raw material state of a substance to its presentation to the consumer and its proper regulation after use.
The studies carried out to prevent air, water and soil pollution, and the examination of the compliance of activities with current legislation are the fields of study of environmental engineering.
Environmental engineering is a privileged profession that serves both an ethical value in terms of its environmental aspect and science and technology in terms of its engineering aspect.
Working Areas;
In consultancy firms that prepare the necessary reports, obtain permissions and inspect the compliance with the legislation regarding the establishment of all kinds of industrial enterprises or the realization of activities.
Takes part in activities such as water supply and purification, wastewater collection and purification, solid waste management and air pollution control in local administrations. Infrastructure and treatment plant design
Selection, construction, operation and inspection of treatment plants
Planning and implementation of environmental management systems
Protection of water resources, prevention of soil pollution
Planning and implementation of solid waste management
Control of all kinds of pollutant emissions can be assigned in both private and public institutions
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Environmental Engineering Department;
Our department aims to train Environmental Engineers equipped with scientific and technological knowledge and application experience with its physical and laboratory facilities, academic staff and research opportunities.
Our students can follow the developments in environmental engineering with technical trips and organized conferences.
They can plan and implement new activities under the guidance of academic staff working within the environmental community.
They can do their professional internships abroad within the scope of the necessary agreements.
ABOUT DEPARTMENT:
With the establishment of Bülent Ecevit University in January 1993, the Department of Environmental Engineering was founded. The department, which is at the Faculty of Engineering, provides education and research with 5 professor, 3 associate professors, 4 assistant professor, 4 research assistants. The department offers the degree in Master of Science (M.Sc.) from the fall semester of 2001-2002 and the degree in Bachelor Science (B.Sc.) from the spring semester of 2006-2007. Degrees of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Bachelor Science (B.Sc.) secondary education have been offered since 2011-2011 fall semester.
Language of instruction is Turkish for Environmental Engineering department, however, %30 percent of courses are taught in English in daytime program. Daytime program of Environmental Engineering requires successful completion of one year of English Language Preparatory program or successfully completing exemption exams.
The mission of the Department of Environmental Engineering is to serve to the society in solving environmental problems by providing a high quality education in order to have graduate professional engineers who have up-to-date knowledge and skills; who can perform researches at national and international levels; who are capable of evaluating and solving complex problems as required by the industry and the public; who as well as being able to follow, utilize and disseminate developments in related areas of science and technology.
The vision of the Department of Environmental Engineering is to be recognized as a prominent department in environmental engineering at national and international arena as a result of high quality education, well-equipped engineers and performing successful scientific and applied research projects.
Environmental Engineering tries to keep balance between human, environment and technology, and also tries to maintain sustainable development in a rapidly polluting Earth. Environmental engineers have responsibility in every steps among the life cycle of any substance. Pollution prevention of air, water and soil, and conformity of services with respect to legislations are the main study areas of environmental engineering. Environmental engineering serves for science and technology with environmental ethical principles.
